Babies & Earthquakes..

So I get up and get ready, eat breakfast, and check my e-mail this morning. Nothing out of the ordinary. Then I check facebook. Everyone's status says something about an earthquake...living through one, sleeping through one.... I called my mom to ask her about it and she told me it happened while she was getting ready for work. She said {because this is how my mom's crazy mind works} that she thought people had surrounded the house and were banging on the windows. BECAUSE THE WORLD IS OUT TO GET HER! HA It freaked her out and Tobey looked really confused. So, she said she was "relieved" when she turned on the news and found out it was "only an earthquake!" Hahaha seriously, mom? I love her though!

I finally found a small report on it, so all I know is that it was apparently a 5.2 (or 5.4, I've heard both) and centered in West Salem, IL. I mapquested it and found out that's only 155 miles from my house. Crazy! Then my cousin called, and while we were on the phone she felt an after shock of it. So weird! The house and everything are okay though. Apparently people as far away as Iowa felt it, too.
So, I get a tornado, Mom gets an earhtquake... awesome.

Anyway.. here's what I've been up to this week...

The Lottery

lottery 003

Last night my brother Adam talked me into buying a lottery ticket. I've never bought one before, but Adam said, "I know the chances are really slim, but they're non-existent if you don't buy one." He's not religious about buying them or anything, just when he thinks about it. He said if he won he'd write me a check for $1 million just to say he'd written a check for that much and I told him I sure wouldn't mind cashing it. Anyway... I wasn't actually going to get a ticket but we were out last night so I went ahead and got one, just cause, well you never know. It was just a dollar... and I wouldn't mind trading one dollar for 90 million.
So.....did I win?

lottery 005

Is it the winning ticket? We have to wait til 9:59 to find out!

lottery 015

And the numbers......do they match?!?!

lottery 007

NOT A SINGLE ONE!!!!!! what a rip off

lottery 008

I didn't win! I can't drop out of school and never get a job!!! sad day.

....cause you know I was totally banking on it.

lottery 009

Should I buy another ticket next week?

Probably not...seeing as how I didn't even get a single number right.

I guess I'll just wait until Adam wins...

THUNDERFEST!

n181100425_30587368_3397

Thunder was so much fun this year! A big group of my TN friends came in town for it! We started off on the Louisville side, which I've surprisingly never watched the fireworks from before. Well, this year was no different. After we parked our cars and found a place on the Great Lawn for our chairs, some of us decided to go exploring... and quickly find that there is absolutely nothing to do! At this point we still had about 4.5 hours before the fireworks began and we didn't want to just sit there in the cold the whole time. Goley and I made an executive decision to go to the Indiana side. I asked Kristen if we could come crash her party and of course she said yes! Actually, she asked me why I went to that side in the first place, but didn't hold it against me. So, Goley, Britt, Casey, Allison and I decided to go to the IN side. Kim was certain it would take us about 2 hours to get there, but it took about 15 minutes (including the time it took us to walk to our car)

MUCH BETTER! we had a house to stay in with (free) food to eat! Glorious!

The only sad part was that Rindi and Carrie didn't come over to IN with us and ended up missing the fireworks... :(

Can't wait for next year!!! :)

Kafiristan ROCKS! =)

Kafiristan = my brother's band :)

I made it into town just in time to see them! Let's just say that after 20 years of living in Louisville, I still don't know my way around! But after getting off the wrong exit and waking up my mom, I made it! And come to find out, Pheonix Hill isn't even that hard to find! who knew?!

Red Bull kept me going. Okay, that was a lie. I drank 2 of them {because the band didn't even go on until 1am which is waaaay past my bedtime} and it didn't do anything to me!

Anyway, the band was pretty good if you like heavy metal! Eric knows that isn't exactly my type of music. After the show the guys were all watching a tape of their performance and kept getting mad at themselves for the parts they messed up on... it all sounded the same to me! oh well..

Afterwards, we ended up getting a hotel suite in Louisville... the guys were hilarious... Eric & Jamie made eggs at like 4 in the morning... and there was an awesome storm outside! It was fun! Then Eric, Jamie, and I all squeezed into the bed. That was interesting! haha!

Eric & Jamie are such a blast! :) Love you guys! xoxo

Laundry at midnight

I'm only still up because I'm doing laundry. And I'm only doing laundry because my brother is a genius.

Eric, being the genius that he is, called me tonight around 9:30pm (10:30pm his time) to inform me that his band is coming to Louisville tomorrow night and he would love for me to come. Now, my schedule is pretty darn flexible, and I would love to see his band since I haven't seen him in concert in probably a few years and I'm going to do my best to get out of town tomorrow instead of Friday... but that means I must do laundry... at midnight. Thank you, Eric.

If my brother isn't reason enough to get out of town tomorrow, tornados are. Jackson has been in a frizzy today... the severe weather that's supposedly coming tomorrow was on the front page of the news today! And apparently Union is evacuating all students to basements tomorrow. I don't know when, or where these basements are... I'm a little out of the loop. But the really severe weather isn't supposed to start until around 6:00. I'm supposed to watch Joshua from 2:30-4:30, but I'm going to call in the morning and see if I can go at 10 or so. Then hopefully I can leave here around 1 o'clock and be long gone before the storms hit. If the weather is too bad though, I will just plan on leaving early on Friday... We'll see...

On another, more positive note, Idol Gives Back was awesome! Well, mostly just the end. The show itself was good, too, though... but I was completely shocked when the Idols came out and sang Shout to the Lord!!!! How awesome is that!? I don't think anyone is going to be converted because they sang that song or anything, but I just thought it was really cool that for those few minutes a show, that is sooo insanely popular and was being watched by hundreds of millions of people, was worshipping God. Loved it!

Play time with Duncan!

Warning: you may find yourself incredibly jealous of my high-fashion outfit and perfect hair in the following pictures. Just so you know. Don't hate me because I'm beautiful.

Last night Duncan decided to randomly start running around the apartment like he was on drugs. He does this occasionally, but last night he was especially hyper. Beth decided to photograph all the excitement, thus bringing you these amazing photos for your enjoyment.

Spring Cleaning

Not a lot has been going on, so I haven't had much to write about (sorry Shelly!). I had a pretty un-eventful weekend (besides hanging out with the cats, you know), so I took the free time to clean out my closet and dresser. I'm coming home this weekend and bringing 3 garbage bags full of clothes that I never wear with me. I should probably just get rid of them.

My closet is finally organized!

Other than that, I've just been enjoying the nice weather! I wish it would stay just like this all the time, but there is more rain on the way tomorrow apparently.

I'm coming home Friday for Thunder. I may or may not ride with some friends, so I may or may not have my car, but if anyone wants to hang out, let me know (I can always borrow my mom's car!)

I actually thought I had something else to post about, but I can't remember what it was.... if I think of it, I'll post it though!

That's all I got.... hopefully I will have some more interesting things to write about soon. Maybe I will do an American Idol commentary tonight. Maybe. Stay tuned...
