Video: take 1
So here's a video taken either yesterday or Wednesday {I forget} of Tobey playing in the snow. Some of you may have seen it on facebook. It's much easier to upload to there, but I don't think I can link my videos from there to here. {Also, you can watch another video that should pop up after this one is over. It's called "Tobey in the snow #2}
Tobey in the snow! from Lynn Davis on Vimeo.
Anyway... I'm trying to start taking more video along with pictures, so hopefully you'll be seeing some more videos around here! ;-)
However, it does seem to take forevvvverrr to upload...

Things we have [or have not] done while being snowed in:
1. Obviously not gone anywhere. At least not easily.
{however, we did finally make it out, after we dug our way out, for about 20 minutes yesterday to rent a movie, but they didn't even have it! It was quite the adventure!}
2. Absolutely zero homework. Even though I have some!
3. Finished off an entire cake that Mom made on Sunday.. apparently being stuck in the house with nothing to do makes you want to eat.
4. Only watched 1 episode of Friends. This is slightly shocking considering we usually watched 2+ episodes a night anyway, and now that we've been home for 3 straight days we've only watched one!
5. Watched Monday night's episode of The Bachelor.
6. Mom baked a peach pie and has eaten almost the entire thing herself! {I'm not much of a peach pie person... I prefer apple.}
7. Absolutely nothing productive!
8. Thankfully, still not lost power!
9. Assessed damage done to the house by falling trees {only a little gutter damage.. nothing super major.}
10. Heard the announcement about another possible snow storm coming on Monday. WHAT?!
11. And thankfully, not killed eachother yet! ;-)

Old Man Winter's visit...
Ice Storm 09 has arrived!!!!
The weather in the picture from my last post is looking really good right about now!!!!
Yesterday we got about 3 inches of snow, then freezing rain & a whole layer of ice, then a couple more inches of snow on top of it! It's a bit crazy!! Mom didn't have to work yesterday and we've been stuck in the house since then. We can't go anywhere today either, and I'm not sure how tomorrow's going to look...
The snow and ice is really beautiful... as long as it doesn't knock out our power. Our power went out for about 2-3 hours in the middle of the night, but it came back on, thankfully! Apparently 100,000+ homes in the area are currently without power, so we're counting our blessings :) It was bad enough to be without power for 6 days back in September when the hurricane came through, but at least then it was comfortable weather and we could open the windows... I'm thinking that wouldn't work so well this time around.
It's kind of amazing how ice just encases the branches...
Our neighbor's tree fell branch by branch
I think this tree is really pretty {the picture doesn't do it justice really.} You can see how the weight of the snow and ice weighs it down... usually it's far from touching the ground.
Poor birdies don't have anywhere to eat... :(
Apparently the worst is over... but we'll see! Hope everyone is staying warm!!! :)

Random picture challenge..
It's me and my favoritest COUSIN Alyssa in Panama City!
That was a fun trip, but due to some medicine I was on, I wasn't allowed to be exposed to the sun! So I spent the week sitting on the beach under an umbrella. It wasn't really that bad though, I just went to Florida twice that summer and had no tan or color of any kind to show for it. haha..

Wedding planning has officially started!
Yesterday I went to a bridal luncheon for day 1 of wedding planning with my brother's fiance, Jamie, and the rest of her bridesmaids!! It was so much fun! There are 6 bridesmaids all together and I only knew 2 of them before yesterday! So it was nice to get to hang out with the rest of them so we could all get to know eachother way before wedding day and be involved in the whole planning process.
Two of them are Jamie's sisters {one of which I knew, and one of which wasn't there yesterday}, 2 of them are her cousins, and the other 2 are me and Cindel, Eric's sisters.
I've never actually been involved in the process of planning a BIG wedding, so I think it will be interesting to see everything that goes into it. I know there's a lot more than I think, but we'll see how much I really don't know! Three of the other bridesmaids are married, so they know all about planning a wedding, and another one is getting married in September so she's also "in the know." And then there's Cindel and me, who have ideas but don't really know what's going on! We learned a lot yesterday, including what an envelope table and a cup hook is. Everyone else would be talking and throwing around ideas and we'd get stuck on words we didn't know.
We would be all, "What's a cup hook?!" and no one would answer because they were busy being all, "We could hang these on the cup hook, and this on the cup hooks, there's a cup hook about every 13 feet...."
To which me and Cindel would look at eachother and say, "WHAT IN THE WORLD IS A CUP HOOK?!" and of course, neither of us would know.
So we'd sit there and nod and smile while everyone else was discussing what all the potential uses of the cup hook could be.
Whatever. I'm going to be so educated about wedding planning after the next 6 months! THE BIG DAY IS 6 MONTHS FROM TODAY!!!! YAYAYAYYY!!!!
Anyway... Jamie's colors are all shades of pink and the reception is a garden party theme. She wants it to be really girly and elegant. Yesterday we decided on table centerpieces and some decorations. We also looked at bridesmaids dresses... here are the top 3 {unless something changes, which is totally likely because there are so many CHOICES!}:
Option #1:
The Short Satin Off-the-Shoulder A-Line dress with Ruched Waist {in watermelon}
This dress is mine {& Cindel's} favorite! Jamie's original pick was a similar style but wasn't quite as dressy and elegant. We all agreed this dress would probably be pretty flattering on everyone, so I thought we had actually made a decision without going through a million bazillion options! Plus, Jamie specifically said she didn't want us to wear strapless dresses, BUT....
Option #2:
The Cotton Sateen Strapless dress with Ruching and in-seam Pockets {also in watermelon}
Somehow someone stumbled across this dress. I think it's a cute dress also, but Jamie doesn't want strapless, and I don't want to feel like I'm constantly pulling it up all night. It's cute though, so if we do go with it I'm not opposed as long as Jamie loves it!!
And finally...
Option #3:

The Charmeuse Short Braided Halter dress with Ruched Empire Waist
This dress is only in the running because it's on sale for $80.00. Plus we get some type of discount {on any of the dresses} but the discount would make this particular dress probably around $50. I like it, but I'm afraid that since it's already so on sale, they may not have all of our sizes available, or if something was wrong after we received the dresses they wouldn't take them back or something. We'll also have to get it altered because Jamie wants the length a little shorter. And since alterations are crazy expensive {which I had no idea about, btw} that could make it as much or more than the other dresses anyway.
But it's up to Jamie... and whatever she picks will be lovely, I'm sure!! She has excellent taste! Aren't bridesmaid dresses supposed to be ordered 6 months before the wedding? Maybe it's 5 months? See, I'm not up to speed on the wedding planning procedure.
We also looked at a couple dresses Jamie has narrowed down to her favorite wedding dresses. They are both absolutely gorgeous, but I won't post them in case my brother reads this!!
By the way... SO MANY CHOICES FOR EVERYTHING!!!!!! I think when I get married I am either going to hire a wedding planner {aka let Kristen plan everything because she loves it} or elope. And since I don't want to elope... Kristen it is! Hope she's up to the task. There just seems to be waaaayyy too many choices for e.v.e.r.y.t.h.i.n.g and I think if I were presented with so many choices and had to make that many decisions my head would explode.
But it's soooo much fun to be involved with someone else's wedding!
Especially my brother and Jamie's! I love them!! I'm so glad they're letting me be a part of it. CAN'T WAIT!!!!
Next step? I have no idea...

First snow of the season!
It snowed last night apparently and this morning Tobey and I went to play! Just for a minute because I've been trying to get all my reading and homework done! :-/ But we had fun! Tobey loves the snow.. he hates the rain but he's always loved the snow! And we wore our matching white coats! :-D He doesn't really like his coat, but I think it's adorable!!
24 Hours in Nashville
Friday evening I headed out for Nashville for Kim & Dustin's wedding.
I spent the night at the Puthoffs' house. I used to babysit for them when I lived in Jackson so it was so much fun to catch up with them and their girls! Abigail has gotten so big!
Saturday was the wedding.
Note to self: DO NOT HAVE A WEDDING IN JANUARY. TOO COLD.
But besides the cold, it was so great to get to see most of my TN friends.. and bonus: I only had to drive 3 hours instead of 5! We should all meet up in Nashville more often! ;-)
Congratulations, Kim & Dustin!!!

That Girl
I was reading through some old journal entries today instead of reading an article for class and I couldn't help but realize that I don't even recognize the girl who wrote those entries all those years ago. Everything is SO different now. I know that's life, and that's the way it works... you change, your friends change, circumstances change... but seriously, a lot of them I couldn't even remember writing, and some of it was stuff that I sure as heck wouldn't write about now. Not because it was bad or overly personal, but I guess something has happened along the way that has turned me into a more private & guarded person.I don't know. It could also be the fact that I know people read this blog that I don't actually know in real life as well as a lot more people that I DO know in real life, whereas on my old journal, my audience was only my brother and a couple of my close friends {at least that I knew of.} Or maybe back then I just didn't care either way. But the thing is, I don't want to be a totally gaurded person, who doesn't let people get to know her. I don't try to be. And if you ask me a question, I'll almost always answer it. But for some reason it's harder for me to let people in these days.
I blame it on something that happened to me that only like 3 people in the whole world know about. And as much as I try to not let that experience control my life, I know it still does in little, very subtle ways. Like this, for example. And I know there are others... I see them every day. And sometimes I hate myself for it. Sometimes, most of the time, I feel like I've come a long way since then, but sometimes I feel like it just happened yesterday and I'm still dealing with it full force. I guess in some ways I'll be dealing with it every day for the rest of my life.
But I want to be that girl again... the girl from my first journal, started in 2002. Outgoing and open, and more carefree. It's interesting to look back... 5 years ago, I would have never thought this is what life would look like 5 years later.
Here's to changes life brings. I'm still thinking 2009 is gonna bring some good ones!

drool.
Does anybody have $500 I could borrow? I will pay you back, I swear. Either in cash installments over the next year, candy & cookies, or lots {and I mean LOTS} of totally awesome photos of whatever you want.
You see, I think I'm in love...

I am positively drooling over this camera. It's the Canon Rebel XS.
I want it sooooo bad I can taste it.
I have spent a year with the "advanced digital camera," the FujiFilm Finepix s8000. And I want to take the next step...
to the DSLR.
I think it's time.
I originally went with the "advanced digital camera" to test out and see if I would be willing to carry around a bigger camera, since I was so used to the small point and shoot that I could throw in my purse and go.
And oh, I am. It could go EVERYWHERE with me.
Well, after a year, the Fuji has been with me on trips, to weddings, to parties, etc... and, it's only 3 ounces lighter than the Canon Rebel, so I don't think the extra weight would bother me too much.
I may not be able to work all of its features at first, but I want to learn!
I'm hoping to save enough money to buy this camera or something similar by the end of the year. I'd really REALLY like to have it by the time I take Hope's wedding pictures in June - even though she said no fancy camera is required, I'd still love to be able to take the best pictures possible for her - and also before my brother gets married at the end of July. I'm not taking his wedding pictures, but still.
So if anyone needs any gift ideas for me, there it is! Or, maybe all 500 2 of my readers could chip in... it would only be one dollar $250 each. :-D ;-) :-D
One day.... me and the Rebel will be best friends.
