Tidbits from Tuesday.

For some reason I keep thinking today is Thursday.
Not good, considering it's only Wednesday.
The only time it's good to think that it's Thursday and it's not is when it's actually Friday.
Follow that?

It's probably because I worked 10 hours yesterday and then stressed myself out about not being able to make it somewhere before they closed afterwards (for the 2nd day in a row... today is my last chance!!), and then immediately met a friend for dinner. Meeting my friend for dinner was good, but the rest made for a somewhat stressful day. Phew. Plus I hate getting home late and only having about an hour or so to relax before bed. But! I'm not complaining, there were many happy things that filled up my Tuesday...

Light.
The sun peeked out yesterday!
He came out to play for just a little bit.
He didn't stay long, and he hasn't been back since, but it was kind of like a little visit just to say hey, don't worry, I'm still around and I promise I'll be back.

IMG_9945
Come back again soon, Mr. Sun, okay? And stay a little longer next time.

It's raining again....

Watch Lola Grow.
You guys, my girl won't stop growing.
I've asked nicely but she just won't stop.
Week 16 - 23 weeks old
We are on week 16 of our little Watch Lola Grow project...to put that into perspective for all my running friends out there, that's a whole training cycle!

Speaking of training cycle, my 1st marathon was scheduled for this Saturday.. I am a bit bummed it's not happening (well, the marathon is still happening, I just won't be running it) but that's neither here nor there.

Anyway, look how big she's gotten.

lola week 16
Methinks she might end up being bigger than the Kosmo. She's not quite as tall as him yet, but she looks wider to me.

Invisible Fence.

IMG_9956
We gots one.
They installed it yesterday, much to my surprise. I was sure they would cancel considering we're all probably going to be heading for the Ark soon. But it's here and training will commence whenever the promise of the rainbow kicks in. I'm super excited about it because then I will no longer have to worry about chasing Lola down the street in heels (this almost happened on Monday, but thankfully, it didn't)

Mom dates.
Mom and I have still been doing the Shred mostly every night.
We've graduated to level 3 and I love it.
I've kinda lost track of what day we're on now though.
We missed a day last week, and I think we'll miss one this week...so busy!
Oops.
I know it's only a 20 minute workout so it shouldn't be hard to fit it in, but it kind of is when you have to coordinate two peoples' schedules..

Oh well, at least we're still going... ;)

Happy whatever-day-it-is, to you! Hope it is filled with happy things! :)
(like maybe cute little puppies who sleep with one eye open)

Easter

We started off Easter morning with some peanut butter pancakes.
Usually I make them, but this time Josh decided he would do the honors while I went and ran a couple errands.
Turns out, there's a reason I usually make the pancakes. He added an extra cup of milk to the mix which resulted in something more along the lines of pan-crepes... or flatbreads.

IMG_9944-2
Personally, I think he was just sabotaging himself so as to not have to make the pancakes next time ;-)
P.S. They still tasted delicious, so pan-crepes or not, I think Chef B is still in the running for Master Peanut Butter Pancake Maker. I'm on to your plan B, and it failed! :)

When I left to run errands, I noticed 2 little baby turtles in the middle of the road right down the street. So of course I stopped my car, got out, and moved them back to the grass so they wouldn't get run over. Then I immediately called Josh and told him to walk around the neighborhood and move all the other baby turtles out of the road so they wouldn't get hit by cars.

The plus side to living right by a lake? Having adorable baby turtles show up in your yard and on your street.
The HUUUUGE down side? Seeing them squished in the road on your nightly walks :(

When I got home Josh was no where to be found but a few moments later he returned with a tub full of 14 baby turtles!!!

Cutest little things ever! Before we took them back to the lake, we made another loop around the neighborhood and found 4 more. On the way out of the neighborhood for Easter dinner, we found another 4... for a total of 22 baby turtles so far!

We celebrated Easter at Josh's parents' house.

IMG_0027
It was raining yet again, but we still managed to have an Easter egg hunt for the kiddos.

Good face, Amy.

And, I think we'll end on that note.

Hope you all had a wonderful Easter weekend... a little more dry than our's.

April Showers

It's been raining here.
Like a lot.
Like, I don't even remember the last time I saw the sun.
Also? Storming.
As in piercing claps of thunder, hail downpours, lightning, and even tornadoes.
We have lots of flooding going on, trees down, and some people still don't have power.

IMG_0068
I know there is a time for rain. It renews and rejuvenates. April showers bring May flowers. I even like rainy days and hunkering down for a good thunderstorm, but dang... I miss the sun.

However, if I've learned anything this year it's that Life's not about waiting for the storms to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain.

So dance we shall.

And despite the dark skies and gloominess of the rain for the last several days, we've celebrated lots of family time this weekend with a birthday and Easter.

IMG_0005
On Saturday we had everyone over to celebrate my BFF Lynda's (Josh's mom) 29th birthday... which is ironic considering Josh will be 32 this Friday. Hmm.

We were going to grill out but Mother Nature had plans of her own, so we grilled in.

Well, the grill was still out... but we stayed in.

Mandy made the cake with a new recipe she hadn't tried before and guess what it was called? HUMMINGBIRD CAKE. Swear. It was scrumptious but didn't taste quite like my beloved hummingbirds. I guess probably because there was no coffee liquor or cream rum in it.. but it did have bananas?

I hung out with the littlest niece, Avery.. she is getting so big!

She's 8 months old now, so you know what that means... it was time for a photo shoot!!
IMG_0073

I think 8 month olds are my new favorite age to photograph. She was SO easy to get to smile, she could sit up and do cute things, but she can't move around yet!! Perfect!

Crazy babies and all their growing!

Just a couple of my faves.. I got so many great photos of her and I haven't even sorted through them all yet.

Happy Birthday, BFF... hope it was awesome!!!

File this under: My family is OUT.

Or maybe: Makes my heart melt.

out

Took a shower and came back to find B passed out with the Boston Terriers.

I guess this means the family dinner we just hosted was a smashing success?

We rented 127 Hours... I guess I'll watch it alone?

Hope everyone has a wonderful Easter! :-D

How cute is a little penguin getting tickled?!

Answer: OMG WAY TOO CUTE.

Y'all know my love for penguins... I just about died when I saw this. Love.

So... like seriously, what do I have to do to get to play with and tickle an adorable little penguin?! Or have one as a pet? I met penguins before, but we weren't allowed to touch them. I want to give one a hug and snuggle with it!

The best laid plans...

Sometimes you have things planned and sometimes they don't work out and sometimes it's okay. Maybe not better, but just as good. That kind of happened this weekend.

Saturday was Thunder and for the first time in 4 years, my Tennessee friends didn't come. I was bummed because it's been our annual tradition and I always look forward to it because I know that if nothing else pans out during the year, at least I'll get to see everybody for Thunder. Plus it's fun to have them up in my neck of the woods for a change. But this year there was a sorority sister's wedding in Nashville and I would have gone to that instead but it just didn't work out. Hopefully we can resume our tradition next year! At least they picked a good year to skip because Saturday was the coldest day of the weekend with a high of 54 and rain all day.

The only productive thing I did all day on Saturday was grocery shopping... which actually turned out to be a 4 hour excursion to Sam's Club AND Kroger with my mom,Mark, and Emily (who are Mark and Emily?) It was actually quite fun though.. a nice little family excursion haha. And the best part was all the free samples they gave out at Sam's Club. Free food is always good, even if it's in bite-size portions.

The rest of the day was spent doing this:

ice cream
Catching up on celebrity gossip while eating Ice Dream from Chick-Fil-A. Heaven. Josh and I also did cool stuff like rent a million RedBox movies this weekned (The Fighter -- good movie!; Jackass 3 -- B loved it, I was appalled; The Resident -- ehh; Stone -- I fell asleep but that doesn't mean anything; Hereafter -- haven't watched it yet; and wow... now I feel like we have no lives..ha) .

We didn't even make an appearance at the fireworks show. I know, I know... it's the biggest fireworks show in the country. Whatevs... once you've seen it once, you've seen it.. pretty much.

Sunday was a whole different story. We emerged from our cave and ventured south. It was 70 and sunny and we had a photo shoot down in Kentucky at a big park. It was Josh's client (I was just his little assistant) so I won't post any of the photos but we walked around for a little bit before the shoot.... so pretty.

Had the day off yesterday so Josh took the day off, too.

IMG_9943
We were gonna go up to Indy, but that didn't work out either (theme of the weekend, anyone?) so we stayed home and got stuff done.. cleaning, laundry, yard work, and the best part...

strawberries
Strawberries for the win!

IMG_9962
Hecks yeah! I made an Angel Food cake (da best!) and topped it with fresh strawberries and lotsa cool whip.. best stuff ever! I could eat cool whip straight out of the tub (and sometimes I do).

Josh also found the cutest baby turtle while doing yard work!

IMG_9884
This little guy reminds me of Obie and Zeke when they were little... only he's even smaller than they were when I got them! This is the 2nd little turtle we've found in the yard. They are so cute! I've been taking them back to the lake since I'm pretty sure they're the same kind of turtle as Obie and Zeke -- red eared slider -- and they're aquatic turtles. We only live a couple doors down from the lake, but that's a long journey for a baby turtle.. even though those suckers are actually quite fast!

We ended our long weekend with some delicious grilled chicken compliments of Chef B!

IMG_9983
IMG_9986
And the best dessert of all... I got attacked by a puppy with lots of kisses!
