Noteworthy Randomness.

1. We made it out of the Storm of Doom that arrived last night alive. Everyone on TV was saying it was going to be devastating, and after seeing what happened in Alabama and Missouri I think everyone was a little paranoid. Amy and the kiddos came over to take shelter in the basement and they were on their way over during the calm before the storm. Everything was so quiet and peaceful while the weatherman on TV was all OMG 28 tornadoes will be here in approximately 14 minutes and 27 seconds! Take shelter! Get flashlights! No candles! Basement basement basement! NOW. And well, the calm before the storm was SO quiet and peaceful..... that I fell asleep. And all I remember after that was Josh telling me later that the worst was over and everyone had gone home. I do love storms, so maybe that's why I didn't freak out, but I feel like maaaaybe it was a bit exaggerated? Oh well, better safe than sorry!!!

2. I feel that it must be noted that I am having a FABULOUS hair day today.

IMG_0263
hair
IMG_0276i was trying to show you the back because normally it is super flat... but that didn't work out so well. i don't know what the weird pose is about. i'm really not good at taking pictures of myself.

Anyway, I don't think it photographed as good as it actually looks. Or at least as good as I feel like it actually looks. It's just more bouncy and full of life than normal. And what do you know, I don't have anywhere important to go today. Maybe B should take me out on a date. yes?

Usually it looks like this:

thering_587x295

3. Cleansing diet update: It has been postponed until further notice (maybe next week?) I just decided that this was a really bad week to do it...
  • I am having a visit from Aunt Flo this week, and no she's not actually a relative (although that was my Grandma's name so that makes this kind of awkward). So naturally my body is like OMG eat lots of chocolate!!!!! and when it is that week you just can't say no.
  • Josh's parents are having a cookout this weekend, on the day that I'm supposed to eat ONLY BANANAS. If it was the day I could eat 32 steaks it would be a different story but I didn't want his family to think I was turning into a monkey. Although, Morgan would probably have no problem following the banana diet with me.
Those are the 2 main reasons. So I will try again on Monday. I did really good yesterday though. And they even had my favorite chocolate cookies with peanut butter chips freshly baked at my mom's house and I didn't even eat one!!! I ate only fruit and soup, until dinner. The soup actually turned out really good!! And I'm going to eat it for lunch again today. I was pretty hungry by the end of the day, but I think that would have been solved if I had brought more soup with me to work. I just didn't know how much I would need. By the time I got home I was FAMISHED (although I did also just run), and after I decided to postpone the diet, I ate a piece of pizza. BAD MISTAKE.

Even though it was healthy-ish for pizza (chicken, pineapple, peppers, onions, etc) and Josh said it was covered in fruit so I could eat it on my diet (no), after I ate it, I had SERIOUS HEARTBURN. At least I think that's what it was. I've never had heartburn so I don't know. But my abdomen got REALLY tight and it hurt to breathe and it was also hurting my back... it just felt like my whole torso was super tight and if I could have burped really good it would have gone away. It never did but I guess I slept it off.

So I guess that was my body's way of saying WTF?! to eating a greasy piece of pizza after super-healthy fruit & veggie soup all day. Crazy.

4. I had a great run yesterday!! I kind of felt like Speedy Gonzales and I wasn't even trying to go fast.

I was originally planning on doing spin class since the storms were coming, but they ended up not coming until late so I had plenty of time to run! It was 80-something degrees (HOT) and super windy, which are HORRIBLE running conditions if you ask me (although I need to get used to them.. marathon training starts in 2 weeks and it's only gonna get hotter!) But for some crazy reason I actually ran my fastest pace since coming back from my injuries! Of course, it was only 2.5 miles but still! I felt great afterwards and kind of wanted to keep going! I was surprised, and dare I say it... a little proud of myself :)

Love when that happens :)

5. I started scrapbooking again! Only this time it's digital.

I had seen this software that photographers use to create photo books for clients on one of Josh's photography workshop DVDs. It was super amazing and awesome and as it turns out they have scrapbooking software too! And with it being only $40, I finally splurged and purchased it yesterday.

You see, I used to scrapbook every weekend in high school with my friends. We'd stay up all night (literally) and scrapbook scrapbook scrapbook (and only end up with 3 finished pages the next day). It was awesome. But that was when I had all the time in the world and could spend all my moolah on scrapbooking stuff. NOW I hardly have time to wash my underwear -- let alone scrapbook -- and all my monies go to important stuff like food and car insurance. So 40 bucks for awesome scrapbooking software, where the papers and graphics are included and there's no mess to clean up afterwards? Yes, please.

So there I was, creating page after page (digital is SO much faster!!) when all of a sudden I'm done with a page and LOOK WHAT THEY DID TO IT:

08AUG02

Apparently something I used on this page was not included with my purchase... I must now purchase the next level ($120!!) to get the watermarks removed. I feel like they should NOT make stuff available if it's not going to let me actually use it! Lame. So now I am sad.

I probably will buy it at some point because $120 is still cheaper than if I were to go buy allll the scrapbooking stuff I would need to catch up on my life (my last completed scrapbook was from 2004). Plus this digital stuff is gonna save me so much time!!! But dang, they are such a tease!

6. MAKE IT STOP.
IMG_0255
Her so big :( I miss my little baby girl.

Week 3 - 10 weeks old
I just don't even know when that happened. (week 20 vs week 3)

She's totally gonna be bigger than Kosmo. And don't they look naked without their collars? They had just gotten baths.. Papa thought they needed to be clean and smell good before they got their picture taken.... because their stinkiness can be smelled through the photo ;)

Happy Thursday!!! Phew, that was longer than I thought it would be. You get a cookie and 27 points if you made it to the end!

Anyone got big plans for the holiday weekend?

Cleansing Diet Day 1

So I have never done a cleansing diet before. I hope I feel nice and clean afterwards. I usually don't like "diets" unless you are talking about the overall way you eat food. As in your diet. But I don't like fad diets, and ones that promise amazing stuff after only 7 days usually make me run the other way towards my ice cream. But since a nurse told me about this one and she was doing it herself, I thought I might as well try it. Over all, all I'm hoping to get out of it is a feeling of being healthier, having more energy, and getting used to eating lots of fruits and veggies and hopefully I won't really miss processed foods too much so Paleo will be easier to start afterwards. I'm definitely NOT looking at it as a quick way to drop 10 pounds and then hoping that it will fix all my problems after 7 days.

But anyway, here's how this cleansing diet works.

First of all, you make this soup:

IMG_0254
It's basically a vegetable soup so I'm hoping it tastes good, but I haven't actually tried it yet. If it sucks I will be screwed for lunch.

Recipe
1 or 2 cans of stewed tomatoes
3 plus large green onions
1 large can of beef broth (no fat)
1 pkg. Lipton Soup mix (chicken noodle)
1 bunch of celery
2 cans green beans
2 lbs. Carrots
2 Green Peppers
Season with salt, pepper curry, parsley, if desired, or bouillon, hot or Worcestershire sauce. Cut veggies in small to medium pieces. Cover with water. Boil fast for 10 minutes. Reduce to simmer and continue to cook until veggies are tender.

I left out the onions and celery because I'm not a big fan of those. Hopefully that's okay? I'll let you know later.

You can eat this soup whenever you are a hungry over the course of the 7 days.

Day 1: Eat any fruit except bananas and soup today.

I had a big bowl of apples, pineapples, and strawberries for breakfast. The way I take it, you can eat as much as you want, but you can only eat fruits and the soup, minus bananas.

As far as drinks go, you can have unsweetened juices, unsweetened tea, black coffee, cranberry juice, skim milk, and water. NO ALCOHOL.

So that's that. Apparently if you don't cheat you should have a lot more energy by day 3. SO that'd be Friday. Sounds good because my Friday just got super busy as of yesterday.... more on that later.

Here's how the rest of the week looks for those who have asked...

Day 2: All vegetables. Eat until you are stuffed with raw, cooked, or canned veggies. Try to eat green leafy veggies and stay away from dry beans, peas, or corn. Eat veggies along with the soup. At dinner time reward yourself with a big baked potato and butter. NO FRUITS TODAY.

Day 3: Eat all the soup, fruit, and veggies you want. Do not have a baked potato. If you have eaten as above for 3 days and not cheated, you should find that you have lost 5-7 pounds.

Day 4: Eat bananas and drink skim milk. Eat at least 3 bananas today and drink as much milk as you can. On this particular day your body needs the potassium and carbs provided by bananas, and the protein and calcium from the milk to lessen the cravings for sweets.

Day 5: Eat beef and tomatoes today. You can have 10-20 ounces of beef and a can of tomatoes or up to 6 tomatoes. Eat the soup at least once today.

Day 6: Eat to your heart's content of beef and veggies today. You can even have 3 steaks if you want. No baked potato. Eat the soup at least once today.

Day 7: Brown rice and veggies today. You can add cooked veggies to the rice if you wish. Again, be sure to eat the soup.

So there it is. If anyone else joins in and does it as well, let me know how it goes!

Front Porch Adventures

Yesterday did SOOOOOO not go as planned. But that's a Monday for you, right?
Also, I COULD be being a little bit dramatic but...nahhhh totally not.

First, I worked for 10 whole hours.
11 if you count the commute.
Let's not talk about it.

I was super stressed out when I got home and ALL I wanted to do was go for a nice long 3 mile run.
Yes, 3 miles seems long to me right now, don't judge.

So I got home, put on my running clothes and I was on my way out the door when it started raining! Keep in mind, it had been SUNNY ALL DAY LONG. At first I didn't even care, it's just a little rain, and I WAS GOING TO RUN ANYWAY, DANG IT! (where is that motivation normally? seriously, I was determined to go for a run!) but my mom informed me that it was actually a big ole thunderstorm rolling in.

UGH. Lightning = treadmill. It can rain on me all day but I really didn't feel like getting struck by lightning. That's not on my list of things to do before I die.

Me and the treadmill are no longer friends. I have absolutely no idea how I basically trained for a half marathon on that thing. I ran a 10 miler on it once....and yesterday I was ready to poke my eyes out after 2 miles.

After my lame 2.2 mile run (it was all I could handle) I had planned to go to the grocery since it never got done this weekend with all that sleeping I did. But I checked facebook during my cool-down on the 'mill and all the statuses suggested that there were tornadoes everywhere.

So I decided I didn't want to be stuck at Wal-Mart with all the People of Wal-Mart if one of those tornadoes decided to touch down.

So then I got home and the garage door wouldn't open and I was all like Why did B lock me out of the garage?! I didn't do anything to him what a butthead!!!! until I noticed the neighbors were chillin' in their car in their driveway too. Unfortunately for them, they had legit locked themselves out of their house because for some reason they don't carry a house key with them, they just go in through the garage... except you can't do that when the power is out!

Our power never goes out since everything is underground! But it did. For like 6 hours. And since we are all spoiled civilians we had no idea what to do with ourselves. We were forced outside where the light was, so we spent some quality family time on the front porch.

She did really good until the last 2 nails and then decided she was done. The last 2 took longer than all the others combined.

And Kosmo waited his turn.. patiently. He knew what was comin'.

IMG_0235
Afterwards 2 good doggies got treats.

IMG_0236
IMG_0249
And THAT was our terribly exciting Monday evening.

I missed The Bachelorette. Lame.

At least I didn't make it to the grocery...everything might have spoiled. But dang, now I still have to go to the grocery :(

Needless to say, the diet will start tomorrow. Wednesday seems like a fantasticly random day to start a 7-day diet, don't you think?

At least I did make it to bed by 10.... pretty sure I was in bed at 9:15. One plus of the power being out, I guess.

Maybe Tuesday will be more exciting and productive... let's hope.

Nashvegas! (plus marathon training and stuff)

My weekend was full.
....of [junk] food, good friends, and fun times!

IMG_0214
I also learned this weekend that I must be getting old.
My little day trip to Nashville totally took it out of me.
I have no idea how I used to travel to Jackson (2 hours further away) almost every single weekend just a couple years ago.

Anywho. On Saturday I went to Nashville to meet up with my friend Rindi! Nashville is about half way between us so it was a good meeting spot. We met up at Chick Fil A for old time's sake -- it was our go-to place of choice when I lived in Jackson. Of course not much has changed. It's still my go-to place (except on Sundays), I just hardly get to eat there with Rindi anymore :( I can't believe it's been over a year since we'd gotten together! Anyway.. it had to be the busiest Chick Fil A I've ever seen! We ordered some lunch and then headed to the Cheekwood Botanical Gardens.

IMG_0215
gardens
IMG_0218
We wandered around for awhile looking for fields of beauitful colorful flowers like the website suggests they had. Unfortunately, we never found them. It was kind of disappointing. But it was still a neat place and for $5 I guess it wasn't too bad. It was just super hot.

IMG_0224
They also had a little art & history museum there.

IMG_0221
Neither of us are big history buffs but it was hot outside and cool in there so we went in for a bit. If I remember correctly, this was the house (mansion) that the creators of Maxwell House Coffee lived in back in like 1928 or something....and this wasn't even the whole house. I couldn't get a picture of all of it... can you imagine living in a house that big?! Let alone in the 1920's! Crazy! It was maaaassive.

Then we headed off to the Cheesecake Factory for an early dinner with Lauren before she went to work and before we both headed back home.

Got rear-ended in Rindi's car... right in front of the restaurant! Welcome to Nashville! Luckily, the guy was really nice and apologetic and there was just a tiny scratch on her car and of course no one was injured so that was good!

Then we went inside and we were thinking since it was only 3:30 we'd get seated right away but they had a 45 minute wait! (graduation parties I guess?) So we took "first available" and miraculously, they had a table outside open right up! So even though it was hot as a mug out there we took it since none of us wanted to get home too late. And then...it started raining! BUT we lucked out -- since they were just about to seat us, we ended up getting seated immediately inside! We literally did not wait at all... lucky us!

[I got an amazing little margherita "pizzette" it was delicious, only $5.50, and the perfect size for just me! I brought home a piece of Reese's peanut butter and chocolate cheesecake for me and B to share because I am an awesome girlfriend ;) ... and because I did not need to eat all those calories myself]

Our waitor was hilarious and we were pretty sure he was trying to get a date with one of us... probably Lauren. He took the below photo, a little blurry but whatevs.

IMG_0226
At least he got that glass of tea in focus :)

After dinner we said our goodbyes and headed off... I love my TN girls! We definitely need to schedule Nashville days more often :-D

My 3 hour drive home was good for about 2 hours and then I had to call Josh and my mom to tell me stories to keep me awake..and it was only 9:30. Man I am getting old!

p.s. #23 done :)

Sunday morning we had a photo shoot scheduled.
It was super cool.. probably my favorite one yet.
Immediately followed by another girls date -- Heather and I went to see Bridesmaids.
Good movie!
No lunch before movie means lunch = movie theater popcorn.

And then...I came home and crashed.
As in a 3 hour afternoon nap.
Sleeeeeepy.
Then we went to dinner with the neighbors....at like 8 o'clock (which is a late dinner for me)... and got home at like 10 (which is my bedtime).
And then watched the 2 hour Celebrity Apprentice finale.
And finally went to sleep at like...midnight-thirty.
SO LATE.
And I woke up approximately 2384789 times last night.
Bathroom. Storm. Puppy walking on my head. Storm. Bathroom. Bathroom. Puppy.
Good times.
I've got to remember not to drink 3 glasses of sweet delicious tea right before bed and maybe give Lola a tranquilizer.

************************************************************************************

So. I haven't exercised in 4 whole days and during that time I've eaten pizza, cheesecake, movie theater popcorn (with butter omg!), Mexican food, and I'm sure a bunch of other crap. I didn't necessarily mean to, but it happens sometimes, eh?

And marathon training is supposed to start in like 2 weeks.

So this means I need to get together a training plan and follow it as opposed to randomly running and exercising whenever I feel like it. I also need to be more conscious of what I eat and how much sleep I get so that way I can train as properly as possible and hopefully actually complete a marathon without dying or getting injured.

The mom of the girl we did the photo shoot with yesterday is a nurse and she told me about a 7 day diet that was developed for heart patients to follow before surgery. It's supposed to cleanse your body of all impurities and give you lots of energy. I don't really care about losing a lot of weight (which it's also supposed to do), but I'm all about the energy part of it...and it'd probably be good to give this body a good ol' cleansing. I've never done a cleansing diet before...!

Anyways... you only follow it for 7 days. So I think that's totally doable. I think I will start it tomorrow. After a week of that I may start implementing the Paleo diet. I don't think that's something I would be able to commit to it 100% (I mean, it says you can't have DAIRY! and we all know how I feel about my ice cream!!!!) but the jist of it is cutting out processed foods, which I definitely want to do more of anyway. So I'd be happy if I could commit to it about 75-85% :) But more on that later...

Goals for this week:
  • follow 7 day cleansing/energy boosting diet
  • run 3-4 days this week... 2-3 miles each time during the week then try 4 or 5 this weekend? I need to start building my mileage again.
  • try to get in at least 1 weight training class
  • be in bed by 10pm (asleep by 11 so as to get at least 7 hours of sleep)
  • come up with my marathon training plan
I'll report back tomorrow about day 1 of the diet!

Happy Monday!

Choosing my 1st Marathon

Remember waaaaaaaay back in the day when I used to talk about running all the time?

Yeah, I barely remember it either it's been so long.

Injuries = no running = no blogging about running.

Once my IT band finally started getting better after 8+ weeks, I was excited to finally be getting back out there, only to be dragged back down by a nagging Piriformis compensation injury (don't worry, I had no idea what a piriformis was either. In fact, I'm still not too sure. I couldn't even say it right for the longest time.) Anyway. I ran 2 miles this past weekend and after pain was shooting down my leg after 1 mile and it hurt to even think about walking, I went back to my evil sports doc last night. After he was done torturing me he gave me the go ahead to keep running!! So yay! That's a step in the right direction. At least he hasn't sidelined me for the rest of the year like I was thinking he would.

Maaaybe Marathon Extravaganza 2011 AKA my 1st 26.2 is going to go down this year after all. Maybe.

So. Since I'm still allowed to at least dream about it, how do I choose one?

Criteria for my first marathon:
  • mostly flat, easy course... a straight downhill course would also be fine
  • good weather (not too hot, not too cold.. low chance of rain, snow, or natural disasters)
  • good crowd support, especially after the first half. I need people to encourage me even if I'm barely crawling along the course looking like a zombie
  • bigger race...so I have a smaller chance of coming in last so there are other runners around me to motivate me to keep going towards the end
  • scenic course to give me stuff to look at
  • cheer squad to be there (B, mom, brothers, and any other family & friends who want to wear ridiculous shirts with my face on them)
So, I have narrowed it down to 3 options, mostly due to timing. Last year I was considering doing San Diego for my 1st, but considering it's at the beginning of June, pretty sure that's not happening.

1. Indianapolis Marathon - 10/15/11

350_IndianapolisMarathon_logo

This one probably makes the most sense for me to do. It's closest to home (so it would be the easiest for Cheer Squad to go to.. my brothers had BETTER be there, considering one of them lives there!), a flat course, not sure about the crowd support but it's a pretty big race so I think it would be good enough. The weather in Indy should be cool-ish by the middle of October so hopefully I wouldn't die of a heat stroke and it probably won't snow. It would also be the cheapest since there would be minimal travel fees. It also matches up perfectly with my running group's fall training schedule, so I wouldn't have to alter too much if I decide to train with them.

The only problem is, one of my best friends is possibly getting married that day. (Don't feel bad... this gives me the perfect excuse to look at other options! ;))

Like...

2. Long Beach Marathon - 10/09/11

longbeachmarathon

This is kind of my dream 1st marathon. It just seems perfect. It was first recommended to me by one of my SUPER awesome running friends, Sheri. She runs marathons all the time and has even qualified for Boston! And she ran Long Beach as her first marathon and LOVED it! The course is beautiful and flat (ends on a downhill even), the crowd support is awesome all throughout, and the weather in SoCal in the fall would be amazing! Plus, I could fall over dead on the beach when I get done. Perfect.

Last winter when I first decided I wanted to do a marathon, my first thought was Long Beach.. but at the time I didn't think I wanted to wait until October. Maybe I got injured for a reason??? ;)

PLUS I just found out that Sarah is running it and Danica gave it her stamp of approval (as her FAVORITE course ever), so umm...I need to go to Long Beach.

Cons
  • traveling to California = more expensive than traveling locally, obvs... and we are going on vacation in September so travel funds will be low. Who wants to pick me up from the airport so we don't have to rent a car and let me stay with them to save on a hotel?! I'll bring cookies!
  • harder for Cheer Squad to come :(
I know it would be harder to pull off (more expensive, etc) but I feel like for my 1st marathon I should make it awesome! You only get one 1st one, right?

3. Las Vegas Marathon

RnR Las Vegas

Okay, okay.... I know. I really have no desire to go back to Vegas. It's really not my type of city and Vegas was where this whole injury thing started anyway. Plus I read all y'all's marathon re-caps last year with horrible words like alone in the desert and mental breakdowns at mile 22. Okay, so mental breakdowns probably happen in every marathon at mile 22, but I sure as heck don't wanna be alone in the desert when I have mine. BUT. This year it's at NIGHT. And I LOVE night races! Okay, so I've only run one and it was only 3 measly miles, but it was super cool. AND there's some type of blogger conference going on and from what I hear all the cool people are gonna be there. (I'm looking at you, SR, and Janae, and my fellow Reese's lover, and like a million more awesome bloggers.) Where was this blogger conference last year when I was actually there?! :( So even though I highly highly HIGHLY doubt I will do Vegas, it is on my list..albeit last. I don't think B would wanna go back to Vegas though....even more than me.

SoOoO... if any of you super awesome runners have other course suggestions that match my criteria please feel free to share! Or if you're running any of these let me know! If you want to comment and tell me how awesome Long Beach is, go for it! I'm also open to training plans, any and all marathon advice, and as always, free cookies.

Happy Thursday.... go run! :)

Down in the Dumps Derby & Happy Mother's Day

i really don't have much to say about this weekend, even though it was a pretty big weekend for our area being the Derby and all.

saturday was just weird.
i was in a funk for no apparent reason.
usually i can pinpoint something that's bothering me, but saturday i couldn't.. which in some ways made it worse.
but i'll start off with thursday (even though it's not the weekend) and friday because those were good.

thursday

292082481

had dinner with erica! good to catch up with her and hear all about how life is going in boston and how she did in the half marathon last weekend!

friday
i did a mini photo shoot with kate the great.
kate
that dress was made by her great-grandma (i think) for her aunt when she was a baby...years ago! so kate's mommy wanted a picture of her in the dress to give her great-grandma. little kate was so cute, i almost wanted to steal her!!

so that brings us to saturday.
i'm pretty sure i woke up on the right side of the bed (which for me is the left side).
i did my usual lazy weekend morning routine which consists of: pee > let lola out to go pee > go back to bed.
okay good, nothing so far that should trigger random blahh moods.

however...when i took lola out, she got distracted and started running towards the street.
this was bad because 1) she didn't have her invisible fence collar on which meant she could get out of the yard (i didn't put it on her because usually in the mornings she does her business then runs right back inside to eat. when food is involved, my baby girl is on it!) 2) there was a neighborhood yard sale going on (that i forgot about) which meant there were lots of cars going down our usually peaceful street 3) i was still wearing my pajamas..

unfortunately, my perfect baby girl does not listen very well to her mommy when she wants to run around like a crazy lunatic. so there i was chasing her down the street in my pajamas in front of all our neighbors and all these cars i'm trying to get to not run her over.
i'm yelling at her and she does not listen. it is both frustrating and embarrassing.
yeah, not a great start to my saturday.
so once i got her in i just sat down and cried.
weird.
usually something like that might make me aggravated, but i didn't think i'd cry over it.
the only thing i can think of is that it made me think of tobey. he got hit by a car, and lola was running right out in front of cars.

so, that's how my weekend started. here's a list of how the rest of the weekend played out (positives & negatives version):

+ that afternoon i went shopping with my mom
- not a good shopping day...couldn't find anything we wanted
+ / - got ice cream. tasted good but it didn't really help
+ took a really good afternoon nap
+ spent the afternoon with mom, mark, josie & emily.. and all 4 boston terriers

IMAG0499

+ made a last minute bet on 3 horses for the Derby and one of them actually won!!! go animal kingdom! i was pretty shocked because i never win anything! another one of my horses (mucho macho man) came in 3rd! of course, i didn't get anything for that one but i was still proud. my other horse (archarcharch) got injured :( but luckily, he will be okay!

sunday
+ / - the positive: went for a run..... the negative: my piriformis is def injured. i looked it up on the all-knowing wikipedia and this is what it said about piriformis syndrome: "This syndrome occurs when the piriformis irritates the sciatic nerve, which comes into the gluteal region beneath the muscle, causing pain in the buttocks and referred pain along the sciatic nerve." so pretty much after 1 mile i had pain shooting down my leg. fun.
+ did laundry
- didn't get it put away
+ had part of a cupcake and a reese's easter egg
- okay, maybe that should be a negative
- went grocery shopping...blahhh
+ watched lola take a nap with her eyes half open and her little tongue sticking out

and i recorded it for you. you're welcome.

apparently my puppy turns into a zombie when she sleeps. precious. (sorry about all the camera shakes. i don't have the steadiest of arms)

so i know it was mother's day and all but my mom is pretty low maintenance so we didn't do anything super special. we were gonna go get mani/pedis with our gift certificates that josh got us for christmas, but the place currently doesn't have a nail tech, so that was out. we went shopping but as you saw, it was a fail. i invited myself over for dinner but they didn't have enough baked potatoes. plus they wanted to eat at like 3pm which is just weird. so i ran to her house on my injured piriformis and she drove me back home. quality mother/daughter time right there. oh yeah, mark was there too.

but at least i got to see her on mother's day. and seriously, she's pretty much the best mom ever. i've said it before but i am so thankful for our awesome relationship and i don't take it for granted. i appreciate everything you do for me! thank you for always being there for me, encouraging me, supporting me, and loving me unconditionally. i'm so blessed to have such an amazing mom! i love you!

and happy (late) mother's day to all you moms out there!! :)

I guess you could say we are "Boston Terrier People"

Last night I went to see little Rubie.
She is just the cutest little thing.

I decided it would be a really awesome idea if we got all 4 Boston Terriers to sit together for a photo. Now that I think about it, I wonder what the heck I was thinking. I should have known it would be next to impossible to get them all to sit at the same time, let alone look in the same direction.

But, since he loves me, Josh went to work with his Boston Terrier magic to get them all to sit. Kosmo, of course, sat the whole time like a good boy because he is the best dog ever. Lola was busy towering over Rubie, and Mack was being really stubborn.

Finally they sat for about .02 seconds and looked in the same direction, even if it wasn't at me.

I love all of them.

And um, seriously. Look how big Lola has gotten in just 4 short months!!!

IMG_0141Don't mind my nasty hair/face/clothes. I had just gotten done with spin class and changed into whatever sweats were laying around the floor.

Where did my baby go?!
Oh well, at least I have tiny little Rubie to enjoy for about 3 days before she's ginormous too. Love her.

The Downs

On Saturday night we got a little fancy went over to the opening night at Churchill Downs with my mom and Mark!

churchill downs
So much fun! I only bet on one horse (because I thought it was pretty, it had a pink number on it, and I liked the number it was -- #8) needless to say, I didn't win.. but Josh won about $20 and Mark won about $70. Not big winners but it helped pay for the evening, and we had a great time!
