Today is Day 30 of my WHOLE30! I can't believe I made it 30 whole days.
- the biggest thing I've noticed is my increased energy. I wake up and I'm awake.
- I discovered I like some foods that I didn't know I liked. Like cherry tomatoes, avocados, and onions.
- I haven't weighed myself to see if I've lost any weight yet. Last time I did a month of paleo I lost 4 pounds and 5% body fat. I honestly don't think I will have quite as good of results as that time, but I feel less jiggly over all, and the point of Whole30 isn't to lose weight anyway, although that's a nice perk.
- I'm kind of interested to add it all up and see how much money I've saved. We've only eaten out maybe 3 or 4 times this month, compared to 3-4 times a week that we were doing. I also haven't been reloading my Starbucks card with $25 every week like I was (yeah, I was addicted). Josh was guessing we saved $0 because I've been shopping at Whole Foods, but I bet we still saved some. Seriously Whole Foods is EXPEN$IVE, but worth it.
- My skin is clearer!
So yeah, overall I am definitely pleased with my results. I'll update later with any weight lost, etc.
Funny story - I went to the doctor last week for a yearly physical (although it was my first one ever!), and had blood work done and all that. Got the results on Friday. The doctor called and said everything looked good, but was shocked because my blood sugar was low. She said that's the opposite of most people. She asked if I'd been eating less sugar and I explained that I've been avoiding added sugars for the past 3.5 weeks. She said, "Well, it's working, but a little too well!" and said I need to eat more sugar. (I bet if you had taken my blood in December during sugar-binge-amania it would have been HIGH).
Anyway, I took that as doctor's orders that I need to drink chai lattes. :)
That's the only thing I miss! I don't miss bread or cheese or dairy or anything else. Maybe ice cream. But really just my chai.
Moving forward, I plan to keep up with mostly Whole30 compliant meals, but with chai lattes, and occasionally whatever I want. Like ice cream or quesadillas (that's the only thing I wished I could eat during the Whole30 that I couldn't... we went to a Mexican restaurant and I really wanted the quesadilla but I was good and got a salad!)
