The Stair Barrier

Stair Barrier c/o | romper  | bow c/o

Lucy has been crawling for a few months now, but hasn't shown any interest in the stairs until just recently! The other day I looked away for 2 seconds and the next thing I knew she was proudly standing on the first stair! I knew right then that we were going to have to figure out some way to block the stairs off... but how?

We used to have a baby gate at the top of the stairs (long before we actually had a baby) to keep the dogs from going up there... but we took it down now that we actually go up there all the time because it just wasn't convenient. There was a tiny gate door you had to squeeze through and being at the top of the stairs sometimes made me feel like I was losing my balance, which is not ideal when you're holding a baby at the top of a flight of wooden stairs (or any stairs for that matter, but I'd feel at least a little better if they had carpet! I mean, remember this incident!? I still have nightmares!!)

Plus, that did no good at the bottom of the stairs. But a baby gate at the bottom of the stairs isn't really attractive, plus you run into the same problem of it being inconvenient and cumbersome.

Enter, my new favorite product!... The Stair Barrier!

It keeps the baby and the dogs off the stairs, is super easy to install (I did it by myself! ;)), is attractive (which is important since the stairs are one of the first things you see when you walk in our house!) and I love how it just rolls off to the side when not in use!! It's everything you could possibly want in a modern baby gate!

I love it! Lucy is less than thrilled since it limits her climbing adventures on the stairs, but safety first, little one. Speaking of safety first... I suppose it's now time to completely baby proof this house! Any other baby proofing tips?!

If you have any babies or pets that you need to keep off your stairs, check out The Stair Barrier! They have outdoor options as well! :)
