The Latex Glove

I had this really long post typed up about mine and Kristen's trip to Holiday World on Monday, but I re-read it and decided it was too long, too negative, and just too much.

So here it is in a nutshell.

If you follow me or Kristen on twitter, or are friends with us on facebook, you probably know that our trip didn't quite go as planned. Actually, that's how I feel about our whole summer. But then again, that's basically how LIFE is right? It never goes as planned. I just had all these expectations {I know, I know} for an awesome summer... we had trips planned to Washington D.C. & Florida, a white water rafting trip for my birthday, we were going to go to Kristen's lake house for the 4th of July, and I wanted to go back to TN at least once this summer and so far none of this has happened for one reason or another. So we were going to go to Holiday World so we could at least have one fun day this summer. That's all we wanted was just one fun day with cute pictures to remember it by.

Well, apparently God had other plans, as this bright purple latex glove is all we physically have to remember our trip to Holiday World:

the glove

While we were riding a rollercoaster my bag got stolen. The bag contained my BlackBerry, Kristen's BlackBerry, my digital camera, the car keys, my license, some money, and our sunglasses. After a couple of hours, we were basically best friends with the security guards {Katie, James, and Kurt}, we answered peoples' questions like we worked there, and we helped find 2 missing husbands..... but unfortunately, we didn't find my bag. They got descriptions of the girls that took it {looked like a mother-daughter team... Mother of the Year right there!} from the security cameras, but I guess they had already made a quick exit from the park along with our stuff.

Here's where the latex glove comes in. A grounds keeper finally found the bag.... in the ladies' restroom... in the "feminine products disposal".... GROSS, RIGHT!?! {I threw the bag away}. So they brought it to me with a latex glove. Luckily, my keys and license were left in the bag so I got them back {which of all things was really the most important} and we carried them around for the rest of the day in that bright purple latex glove. I'm sure people thought we were a little strange.

Anyway, there's always a silver lining and I'm not gonna lie it took me a couple days to see it. Originally I was just so mad that I work hard and save my own money until I have enough to buy the things I want, nobody hands them to me, and then some jerk girl just comes and takes it from me like she has the right to. Then she gets away with it so she thinks she can do it to someone else. That on top of lots of other things going on, made it really hard for me to see the good on Monday. But these types of things happen and it stinks, but what can you do?

"Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal." Matthew 6:19

And as my Aunt Kathy said, in the grand scheme of things, I'm going to be just fine :)

On the positive side....
+ I had insurance on my phone {retail price $579} so luckily, I only had to pay $100 for a new phone.... not that I really had the extra $100, but I'M LOOKING AT THE PLUS SIDE.. at least it wasn't $579 :)
+ at least I didn't have my DSLR camera with me. {pretty sure I would have been searching everyone's bags as they left the park until I found it}
+ at least we got the keys back and weren't stranded at Holiday World.
+ at least we didn't have credit cards in the bag, and I got my license back.
+ at least I had Kristen there to laugh about it with {and later to cry}
+ and as Aunt Kathy said... at least no one shot us for our possessions :) {my Aunt Kathy is full of wisdom and I love her}

Things aren't easy around here lately, but it's always better to look at the positive side... and I promise, there is always a positive side {and that's coming from someone who is a "glass half-empty" person by nature!}

I'm off to my brother's wedding this weekend! I'm hoping I don't trip & fall walking down the aisle, but then again, that would fit in perfectly with how the rest of the week's been going.... :)

P.S. Did I mention I got horrible whiplash on the same rollercoaster where my bag got stolen.. nobody ride The Voyage... I think it's bad luck!!!!
