Officially ready for training! GO TEAM!

Yesterday I got my first pair of running shoes! Josh took me to Pacers & Racers {I highly recommend them if you need any running shoes!} and I got sized up & fitted for the perfect pair of shoes. They even watched me run in the parking lot. So now I am officially ready for training!

My goal is to be able to run a 5K in a month or two. I was going to run the Reelfoot Road Race {a 10K} in November, but somehow out of all the weekends in the fall, I actually have something planned for that weekend. But Josh seems to think I'll be able to do a 5K on October 3rd... he's definitely more ambitious than me... or maybe I just don't give myself enough credit. But either way, that's in 3 weeks and 3 in 3 weeks and 3 days I should be able to run 3 miles. We'll see.

Running has never been one of those things that I thought I could be good at. It's hard and usually I hate it.. even though I feel really good afterwards, I usually don't like it while I am doing it. But I really want to do it. I want to get over the part where the end goal feels un-reachable. I know it will happen, I just have to work for it and everybody starts somewhere. I have so many people around me that are positive and encouraging about it and that really helps. I'm really excited about it!!! I feel good because I have a goal now, a schedule, and awesome supportive people to help me. I just hope I don't give up on myself.

Josh has made me a training schedule for the next 3 weeks. So hopefully I can do it! I also know a couple of girls from the gym who are also going to start running so I think we are going to run together sometimes. It's definitely nice having so much support and I think this might actually be fun!! =)

So... my first goal is a 5K... then I'm hoping to be able to do a 10K shortly after that. My bigger goal is to be able to do the mini-marathon in April. Wish me luck!!!! I'll post my progress here.
