I got my first running injury... does that make me an official runner?

running injury

Well, it's official... I have gotten my first running injury. Technically I guess it's my 2nd...when I VERY first started running, I hurt my foot. Like literally, during my first run. But that was because I didn't have good shoes. So this is my first injury that I got from actually running.

I am pretty sure it happened on Thursday after I ran 4.12 miles {the most I've ever ran at once, so far}. It probably didn't help that I went back out that evening and ran another 3.6 miles with Josh - and Thursday wasn't even a running day!

Last week I ran on Monday, Tuesday {twice}, Wednesday, and Thursday {twice}... and my running days are only supposed to be on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Oops! Josh kept telling me that a typical problem people have when they first start running is that they'll try to do too much too soon... I didn't think I would have that problem, because sometimes I still don't even like running while I am actually running.... and before I started this whole running thing, I pretty much hated it altogether. Seriously, if you saw me running you should have probably been running too because it meant something bad was about to happen. But I guess last week I really did start to actually like it - I determined this after we went for a run on Sunday and barely made it 2.5 miles. I felt like a failure. I apparently am no longer satisfied with runs that are less than 3 miles. Needless to say, I guess I accidently over did it.

Ughh. It stinks!

I still did my speed run on Monday, but after that was when it really started to hurt, so I'm taking a few days off. I'm bummed out though because, for one I want to run, and for two they started new classes at the gym this week that I was looking forward to! Oh well.. I am just hoping it gets better SOON!

In the mean time, I think I'll be spending a lot of time with these..
