1st Anniversary

So, a year ago today I ran my first 5K/road race ever.

I remember that day like it was yesterday.
It was the start of something amazing for me, and I still can't believe how far I've come since then... not just the big milestones like being able to run a 5k, then 10k, 10 miles, and a half marathon... but the little accomplishments (which are big to me) like being able to confidently run down busy roads. Seriously. When I first started running it was hard enough for me to run around my neighborhood, let alone down a busy road or in an actual road race where people could see me. Don't ask me why, no idea. Thought I looked silly (think Phoebe from Friends, if you know what I mean...) until I realized at least I looked better than the people sitting on their couches not doing it. And I can't believe I've actually stuck with it, because it sure as heck ain't always (or ever!) easy... and yet, I've run at least one race a month since last October. How cool.

I've been thinking about what I wanted to say on this here "first anniversary" if you will... but I think I already explained it all pretty good here.
But to sum it up: I love running. Just in case you weren't sure.

So anyway. I ran that race again this morning.
The Down Syndrome of Louisville 5k.

I picked it at random last year because it was the only race on the only Saturday in October that I had available, but it's a fun little race with a good flat course and I'm happy to support Down Syndrome awareness.

look, Ma! no hands! (no clue what this pose was for...haha)

I was hoping to take 3 whole minutes off my time from last year, but 2.5 will have to do.

Thanks to everyone who has supported me throughout my first year of running! Especially my coach and my #1 fan [my mom]! I couldn't have done it without you! :)
