Happy 2011!

Happy New Year!!!

We celebrated by going out to dinner at KT's with some friends and then headed back home to ring in 2011 with some more friends.

It was the perfect mix of going out and staying in for me.... I was totally fine with staying in, but since it was New Year's Eve after all, I figured we should probably do something. Going to a bar or a party with a $65 cover charge was not super appealing (especially because if they offered free drinks it was either beer and/or champagne, and I don't like either) so we opted for the cheaper option... staying home for the countdown. Plus, I fell asleep at approximately 12:01, so it was a good thing we were home.

Which brings me to the best news of the year (for you.)

While we were in Jamaica, I got addicted to a Jamaican drink called The Hummingbird. Okay, I guess "addicted" is probably not the best word to use when referring to an alcoholic beverage. By addicted, I just mean that it was my new favorite and I drank approximately 27 per day. It tastes just like a smoothie. So when I found out we were staying home for NYE, I knew I had to get all the ingredients to my new favorite drink! And I am here to share the Hummingbird love with all of you!! (you're welcome.)

Here's the recipe:
  • 1 oz cream liqueur
  • 1 oz coffee flavored liqueur
  • 1 oz milk
  • 1/2 oz strawberry flavored syrup
  • 1/2 banana
  • 1 cup crushed ice
Put together in a blender and blend until smooth. Serve & enjoy!!

And it does taste pretty darn close to the ones I had in Jamaica!
