Has anyone ever tried it? I've been inspired by April and a couple other blogs I've read that have included the exercise terms burpees, tabata, and thrusters, to give it a try. And those are just a few of the CrossFit terms I've seen that I have no idea what they mean. Most of my research about it has been conducted oh, you know, today.. so I really have no idea what I'm getting myself into.
But I'm intrigued. Since I haven't been running (in 18 days now!!!! OMG) I've been mostly getting my workouts on at spin class. And that's pretty much it. And while I love my spin classes, they do nothing for my upper body... which desperately needs some work. And my body is now kind of screaming for me to do something else with it. Plus it'll be nice to be able to go to the gym on my own time without having to schedule my work outs around available classes. Not that I'm giving up my group classes.. heck no, I love them! But I think my goal is going to be to do 3-4 CrossFit sessions a week along with 2-3 spin/Zumba/yoga classes a week. Once I get back into running and I'm running 3-4x a week I don't know what I'll do because all of that would probably be a little bit excessive, but we'll see. Realistically, I'll probably run 3 times a week, do 3-4 CrossFit days and then 1 or 2 days of yoga. Spin and Zumba are cardio, so I think the yoga will be better for me once I get back into running.
But I'll cross that bridge when I get to it. (Hopefully next week!!!!!)
So, when I get off today I will be making my way to the gym to do my first ever CrossFit work out. Here's what today's work out calls for:
Five rounds of:
- Run 800 meters
- 2 pood Kettlebell swing, 30 reps
- 30 Pull-ups
Will report back tonight.
If anyone is more experienced CrossFitter than me, please feel free to leave any and all advice. Like I said, I really have no idea what I'm doing.. I just hope I don't die.
