3rd Annual Girls' Trip

This past weekend was mine and Cousin's annual GIRLS TRIP!

This year we decided to go white water rafting! It was on my bucket list and we found a Groupon so things worked out perfectly! Our Groupon included 2 nights in a deluxe cabin, white water rafting and then our choice of activity - horseback riding, paintball, or a high ropes course. We both thought the high ropes course was the best choice since neither of us had ever done one.

Cousin arrived to my house Thursday evening, went to work with me on Friday and we left after work around noon. The drive wasn't bad - only about 6.5 hours. Much better than our 15 hour drive to FL 2 years ago!

Anyway, Cousin saved the day by bringing her GPS.

Normally we just use our phones, but thank goodness we didn't do that this time or we would have been screwed. The road we were on towards the end randomly turned into a super windy road up a mountain with no shoulder and we totally lost cell phone service. I'm surprised the GPS got us as close as it did - it said we had arrived, yet there were only some junky old trailers on both sides of us. Luckily we drove a couple hundred feet further and found the camp.

This was the first time I've ever bought a "Groupon Getaway." I was afraid it may turn out to be a bust - especially when we thought we'd arrived at some junky old trailer. When I bought it, the company's website wasn't working and I couldn't find any reviews of the place... but it was only $200 for everything I mentioned above and at $100 a piece I thought it was a pretty good deal regardless, as long as we weren't in some total dump or sketchy place.

Luckily, it was just the opposite and I would highly recommend the place we stayed to anyone - White Water Express. We stayed at the Ocoee camp. The staff were all very friendly and we had a great time! The camp hosts a lot of youth groups so it's very much geared to that kind of thing, but we had fun too and I think it would be a great family place as well.

It was beautiful!

Our cabin had one bedroom with a full size bed and another bedroom with 8 more bunk beds! We could have brought our whole family!

We also had our own bathroom AND our own showers (the regular cabins had to share a bathroom & shower house with other cabins) and a little kitchen area.

Another thing I thought was cool:

So anyway, we hung out Friday night and then Saturday was our white water trip!

(I'm on the back right of the raft)

Over all the trip was a blast but I wish we had more time on the water! I was prepared for it to be a lot scarier than it was after everyone's horror stories! Luckily our trip was smooth sailing.. I didn't even fall out except for when the guide intentionally flipped us (he asked first).

Cousin and I gave it 2 thumbs up!

When we got back to camp, we got ready for our high ropes course. I don't have any pictures of it, but it freaked me out! It was super high off the ground and you had to walk across on just a tight rope. I don't know how that guy walked across the Grand Canyon and Niagara Falls on a tight rope with no harness. It was scary enough for me and I was harnessed in!

We also climbed a rock wall... which I do have pictures of.

I got to ring the bell... just like at Crossfit ;) Seriously... that was a lot harder than I thought it would be!

Survived white water rafting, conquered my fears on a high ropes course, and completed a rock wall... I'd say the 3rd girls' trip was a success!

Now... where to next year?!
